NO NEED TO SIGN UP - JUST COME TO THE PARK!
Little Hunting Park Community,
Barring a major change from Fairfax County, we’re less than five weeks away from kids in the pool, players on the tennis courts, and families eating at the Gator Grill. We know COVID is still causing challenges in many aspects of life. Our hope, however, is that a few hours at your pool will provide a welcome break.
We don’t yet know exactly how we’ll operate during summer but wanted to share what we know right now.
How the club will look
Like restaurants, retail stores, and more, we’re not sure if Fairfax County’s guidance for mass gatherings will change by summer, so we’re planning for those restrictions to remain in place. We’re therefore putting the pieces in place to operate like we did last summer:
● Using the reservation system to reserve pool and tennis times;
● Asking health questions upon arrival at the club; and
● Requiring club members to wear masks when not swimming, eating or drinking or using the tennis facilities.
It’s possible these requirements won’t be necessary and, if so, we’ll make changes as needed.
We encourage everyone to get vaccinated; however, it will not be required to access LHP
Dues and charges
Thanks to those of you who’ve paid your membership dues and special assessments. If dues are not paid by May 7, we’ll offer those memberships to families on the waitlist. Remember, a
$50 late fee now applies. The foundation of our budget is member dues. Not having a full complement of dues affects our ability to maintain the pool, tennis courts, grill, and grounds - and that hurts our entire community. Please pay your dues if you haven’t done so already.
In terms of Gator Grill charges, we spent (and are continuing to spend) too much time chasing down members who haven’t settled their accounts - and that’s time we could be putting into improving the club’s facilities and services. If your account is overdue from last summer, please settle it. Thank you! We’re looking into different payment solutions for this summer.
Work days: You volunteering a few hours makes for a better summer
We’ll send a follow-up email with more information but are asking all members (one representative per family) to volunteer for at least three hours and help prepare the club for opening. Available times range from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15th; Saturday May 22; or Sunday, May 23rd. Jobs include raking leaves, cleaning facilities, and cleaning/prepositioning chairs. You’re welcome to volunteer or, if you can’t make it, pay a $75 fee so we can get the help we need.
We are happy to report that tennis is back at LHP, and we’re looking forward to the return this summer of Gators and Little Gators Tennis! Also, your Board is taking steps to get the courts cleaned and in better shape. For information on the tennis offerings at LHP, to include lessons, teams, and general court availability, please contact Coach Jeff email@example.com@advantage-tennis.net, or visit the website:https://advantage-tennis.net/home/partnerships/lhp-tennis/
*IMPORTANT UPDATE* High winds on Friday blew down one of the light poles on the tennis courts. Pending repair of the downed pole and thorough safety inspection of the remaining poles, tennis courts are closed until further notice.
We are also happy to report that the LHP Swim Team will be up and running strong for the 2021 summer swim season! Please visit the LHP Swim Team website for more information and to sign up:https://lhpgators.swimtopia.com
Thank you for working with us as we prepare for summer opening. We’ll be in touch with more specific information as it becomes available and look forward to seeing you this summer!
